Graphic Ink: The DC Comics Art of Darwyn Cooke

The Collected DC Universe Illustrated by a Master of Comics

As someone who studies the work of Darwyn Cooke believing him to be an artistic genius, I believe a proper coffee table book covering the work of this incredible comic book artist is long overdue. Graphic Ink: The DC Comics Art of Darwyn Cooke very nearly delivers on this promise, containing a large collection of work within the DC Universe featuring the characters Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, sitting alongside Harvey Pekar’s American Splendor, Jonah Hex and Looney Tunes – all in Cooke’s expertly controlled and retro infused inky brush style.

While it’s not the complete, biographical body of work i’m waiting for – with only a short introduction and nothing on his working process – the wealth of work and complete strips included in it’s 400 plus pages are more than enough to satisfy this die-hard fan. Highly recommended.
