The original iteration of Redbook Magazine (1930) was a popular American women’s publication that featured fiction and non-fiction stories, fashion, and home culture, often with an emphasis on helping married women grow intellectually and contribute to humanitarian causes. Key features of Redbook in 1930 included ongoing serials like Rufus King’s mystery series, “The Murders on the Ship,” and William Byron Mowery’s “Heart of the North,” along with cover art by artists like McClelland Barclay.

Quickly approaching its 100th anniversary, each issue offers fascinating reference material for designers due to the outstanding illustrations, editorial layouts, vintage advertising, and lettering design. I managed to find a couple at a flea market and offer a flick through here as a short taster. Enjoy!
